Please wear a RED shirt . Flameless candles and luminara bags will be provided. Be prepared with the name of an animal that was killed at MCACC so you can write it on a bag in memory of that animal :(

We will be mourning the deaths of innocent, adoptable animals while encouraging the public to ADOPT and SAVE A LIFE! We have ALL been part of the solution by volunteering, fostering, donating, and pulling from the e-list. Despite our best efforts, animals continue to die as part of a broken system that needs to be reformed. Be the voice of the voiceless and help us honor their memories.

From Maricopa County: "In FY2015, a total of 36,047 animals were surrendered – 32,927 dogs/puppies and 4,033 cats/kittens at both shelter locations – East and West. Of those, 11,550 were transferred to authorized rescue partners, 11,360 were adopted, 4,183 were returned to owners and 8,324 were euthanized." That's live release rate of 77%, with 23% killed.

Maricopa County ACC has one of the highest kill rates in the country. We will take an in-depth look into the current administration, their staff, their budget and their practices over the next three months to culminate in a sleep-out protest at this facility with a letter being delivered to the shelter director that we will NOT tolerate the killing of cats and dogs any longer.
